Katherine Donaghy is a multimedia artist living and working in Cincinnati, Ohio. She is a recent summa cum laude graduate from the University of Cincinnati with a BFA in Fine Arts at the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) with two minors in Art History and Marketing. She has worked as a Gallery and Collections Co-op at DAAP Galleries, Graphic Designer at the UC Public Health Response Team, and an Art Curator at 1628 Ltd. She currently works as a Studio Assistant for Professor Emeritus and local artist Cynthia Kukla. She primarily works with two-dimensional media, particularly drawing, painting, and collage. This interdisciplinary approach to artmaking is vital to her creative process. She most often works with oil, acrylic, marker, ink, graphite, found objects, and collage. Her favorite subject matter is portraiture because it uniquely captures an emotion or personality.

Curatorial Work

During my Spring 2022 semester, I had the privilege to work as a Curator at 1628 Ltd., a coworking space and art gallery in downtown Cincinnati. I was given the opportunity to see what it really takes to run an art gallery, and I was able to curate my own show, Not Quite Seen, a group exhibition featuring local and regional abstract artists in any media. I was responsible for the artist outreach, communication design, curation, and installation of this exhibition. Check out the press release here and and the virtual exhibitionโ€”where you can view the work in the showโ€”here!
